Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fidan Alakuş Sabuncuoğlu, an orthodontic specialist with outstanding clinical skills, was born in Germany in 1978. After completing her primary, middle and high school education in Istanbul, in 1995 she entered the then prestigious Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry. She graduated in 2000 and gained professional experience in various clinics. In 2003, she joined the Turkish Armed Forces as a commissioned officer. The same year she graduated first in her class from the Samsun Field Sanitary School and began working as a military physician. Thanks to her dedication, diligence and determination, she completed her doctoral and orthodontic specialty training in the Orthodontics Department of Gülhane Military Medical Academy between 2006 and 2010. During this four year period she treated many patients, and in 2010 she was appointed as an orthodontic specialist at Erzurum Mareşal Çakmak Military Hospital, playing a key role in patient care in Erzurum and surrounding provinces. In 2016, she was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Orthodontics Department at Gülhane Faculty of Dentistry, and in 2017 she received the title of Associate Professor in Orthodontics. Currently practicing as a private orthodontic associate professor, Dr. Sabuncuoğlu has had an extraordinary academic career, publishing numerous national and international papers and making many contributions to orthodontics. She earned the 1st Prize Poster Award at the 7th International Endodontics Symposium, which was widely covered in national and local media. Thanks to her commitment and perseverance, she continually follows new academic developments and implements innovations. Dr. Sabuncuoğlu is married and mother to one daughter.
