Prof. Dr. Taşkın Gürbüz, a highly talented and experienced specialist in pediatric dentistry, was born in Erzurum in 1975 and embarked on a remarkable journey in dentistry. After completing his primary, middle and high school education in Erzurum, in 1997 he graduated with the honor of second highest ranking from the prestigious Faculty of Dentistry at Atatürk University. Driven by intellectual curiosity, Dr. Gürbüz pursued further academic endeavors. In 2003, he obtained his doctoral degree in Pediatric Dentistry, strengthening his experience in this specialty. His dedication to his profession was further evidenced when he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the same department. From 2005 to 2006, he proudly served as a reserve officer in the Pediatric Dentistry Department of Gülhane Military Medical Academy, fulfilling his civic duty while continuing to develop his knowledge and skills.
His commitment to excellence was recognized again when he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and conferred the title of Full Professor in 2014. Dr. Gürbüz’s contributions to dentistry extend well beyond academia. At Atatürk University’s Faculty of Dentistry, he held esteemed leadership positions such as department chair, vice dean and dean, demonstrating outstanding leadership and administrative capabilities. His vision and expertise were instrumental in establishing the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul Medeniyet University, where he served as founding dean and chief physician. He later continued his academic and administrative career at Istanbul Health and Technology University as founding vice rector and founding dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, playing a key role in opening both the university and its dental hospital.
Currently, he continues his work as a faculty member and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Istanbul Galata University. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Gürbüz owns and manages multiple private dental clinics in Istanbul, where he aims to offer patients excellent treatment services grounded in ethical principles.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Gürbüz has made significant contributions to the field of pediatric dentistry through numerous national and international academic articles. His work has been honored by the Turkish Dental Association, awarding him the Academic Achievement Award in 2006, the Young Researcher Award in 2011, and the Scientific Publication Award in 2013. These awards testify to his unwavering dedication to advancing knowledge and improving children’s oral health globally. Dr. Gürbüz has also served and continues to serve in many institutions and social platforms, such as the Turkish Ski Federation.
