What information we collect, use, and why

We collect your personal information for the purpose of providing you with intermediary services for healthcare and related services you plan to receive in Turkey.
Medvop, through its website medvop.com, offers certain services, such as:
  • Obtaining and displaying fee quotes for healthcare services from certified healthcare service providers in Turkey
  • Acting as intermediary between patients and healthcare service providers in Turkey and facilitating the sharing of required information and documents
  • Obtaining and displaying fee quotes for travel and accommodation in Turkey and facilitating customer booking and reservations with hotels or airline companies
  • Offering transportation services in Turkey, or acting as intermediary between patients and transportation service providers in Turkey and facilitating the sharing of required information and documents
  • Providing information to patients regarding their visit in Turkey, including travel information, or information on tourism service offerings of hotels or other tourism service providers
We collect or use the following information:
  • Name
  • Contact details, including phone number and e-mail address
  • Addresses
  • Date of birth
  • Identification documents, including customer passport
  • Other information included in customer passports, including passport expiry dates
  • Health information
  • Age and gender

The health information (data concerning your health) we request from you may include your health history, past or ongoing treatments (including your current or past use of medicines or operations), medical tests, medical images related to the health service requested or lifestyle (such as information on whether you are a drinker or smoker).

Lawful bases and data protection rights

Under relevant data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and the Turkish data privacy legislation, we collect and use your personal information only based on a lawful basis.

Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information to provide services and goods are:
  • Performance of a contract – we have to collect or use your information, and transfer your information outside the UK, so we can provide intermediary services to you.
  • Your explicit consent - we request permission from you for the processing of data concerning your health as described in this privacy notice. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests - In case you receive services via Medvop, we may use your personal information for the purposes of our legitimate interests, such as the resolution of potential disputes.
Providing your personal information
Where we get personal information from

We obtain your personal information directly from you.

How long we keep information

We keep your personal information only for the period needed.

Your health information is retained by Medvop for six months after you have requested or received healthcare services in Turkey, and deleted at the end of this period.

Your information other than health information is retained by Medvop for a period of five years, in order to protect Medvop’s legitimate interests, such as the resolution of disputes.

Who we share information with

We share your information with certain suppliers and service providers. Depending on the services you request from us, we may share your information with:

  • Certified healthcare service providers operating in Turkey (the identity of which may depend on the services you request)
  • Hotels or airline companies
  • Certified transportation/transfer service providers
  • Duffel Technology Ltd (Registered in England and Wales (no. 11188295) at Duffel Technology Limited, 3rd Floor, 100 Clifton Street, London, EC2A 4TP, UK), a travel booking service provider.

We will only share data concerning your health with certified healthcare service providers operating in Turkey, which may include healthcare organizations or healthcare professionals.

Sharing information outside the UK

In order to provide you with the services you request, we will share your information with certified healthcare service providers operating in Turkey (the identity of which may depend on the services you request), hotels operating in Turkey, or airline companies offering flights to Turkey. The legal basis for the sharing of your information outside the UK is the performance of a contract, under which we provide you with the services you request from us.

Your Rights and How to complain

Under relevant legislation, such as the UK GDPR or the Turkish Data Privacy Legislation, you are entitled to certain rights with regard to your personal information. These rights may include:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request other information such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share personal information with. There are some exemptions which means you may not receive all the information you ask for.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to correct or delete personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information.
  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information.

If we have provided services to you under a contractual arrangement, we may rely on our legitimate interest to keep certain information without relying on your consent.
